Bio
Author Jason Potter was born in Port Lincoln South Australia in 1972 to an agronomist and nurse, the eldest of their four children. Jason knew he wanted to be a writer from as young as he can remember, making up elaborate tales as a kid and staring out the window creating stories in his head. With his new young adult release, Josiah, his book is meant to encourage people to think deeply about their own lives and the lives of others, and is about understanding the difficulty of growing up without a sense of belonging.

A trained psychotherapist and chaplain, Jason’s book concept comes from his background in working with young people over the past thirty years, as well as his own experiences as a youth feeling misunderstood and unheard. He believes a good book is one where the reader can see themselves in the story; it involves a character or a situation that young people can relate to, be excited about, or imagine in their own mind, and evokes the ability to picture things as they happen. Jason hopes his young adult readers come away from reading his book with insight into what it’s like for a bullying victim to have to fight for their sense of wellbeing and acceptance. He wants his story to inspire hope for those who are bullied, ostracized, and scared. When he isn’t writing poignant young adult stories, Jason enjoys following Australian Rules Football and Cricket. He is a husband and father to four children. His family lives in Canberra, Australia with their dog and two rabbits. Josiah is Jason’s first published book. |
